Yes! You Can join! It's easy to join Norbel Credit Union and receive all the benefits of becoming a member, including saving as much as several hundred dollars a year! And joining a credit union is almost like owning your own bank because our members are our owners.
You can even apply online!
How easy can you join? You can join in any of the following ways:- through your current employer or an association/organization you belong to
- by having a family member who's a Norbel member
- by living or working in a certain area of the 80525 zip code in Fort Collins
- All Colorado Residents can join through Consumers United Association
These options are explained below.
current employer or association/organization If your current employer is affiliated with Norbel, you're eligible to become a member. The same holds true if you belong to an association or organization that has joined Norbel. You can check our current list of companies/associations to see if yours is one of them. If it isn't, you may join in any of the following ways or have your company or association join Norbel.
family membership If someone in your family is a current member and you're related to them by blood, marriage (including common-law marriage), or adoption you're eligible to join Norbel.
80525 zip code If you live or work in a portion of the 80525 zip code in Fort Collins south of Drake, north of Harmony, west of Timberline, and east of College you're automatically eligible to join Norbel. (You're also eligible to join if you have a family member who lives or works in that area.)
Consumers United Association This association exists to give all people access to information and services that add value to their financial lives. If you're not eligible for Norbel membership in any of the previously mentioned ways, you may pay a fee of $5 to join Consumers United and then become a Norbel member. Please note: If you join through Consumers United, you must be a Colorado resident and must join by visiting one of our five branches.
There's a one-time $5 fee to join Norbel, but if you open two or more accounts, we'll waive the $5 fee.
When opening an account, please bring the following with you:- a valid picture ID (driver's license, passport, state-issued identification card, military ID, or school ID for minors)
- proof of eligibility (for example, a pay stub from your employer if you're joining through your company)
- a document showing your Social Security number
- cash, check, or money order totaling $30 (for the $5 membership fee and the $25 deposit required to open a savings account); an additional $25 will be required to open a checking account
